BRENT PALMER is an African-American producer based in Los Angeles on a mission to foster innovative collaborations with diverse directors, writers, and creative talent. He’s a proud native of the Detroit area whose experience over 10 years as a studio executive and a creative working across fiction, documentary, and VR allows him to approach storytelling with versatility and care, effectively shaping each for the market.
Currently he’s producing a groundbreaking, fully-animated documentary on the life of hip-hop megastar, Pharrell Williams. Close to his heart is a Detroit-based feature documentary film he produced, LIES CLOSED THIS SCHOOL, that follows students, teachers, parents, and activists as they fight for equal education in America.
His producing portfolio includes working with top tier companies including Concordia Studio and One Story Up, and with directors such as Academy Award winner Davis Guggenheim, Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker, award-winner Nicholas Ma, award-winner Caroline Suh, and award-winner Kamilah Forbes. Projects in his portfolio are seen on a global scale with distribution partners such as Focus Features, Amazon Studios, HBOMax, and Netflix. Brent is a 2020 Concordia Fellow, a two-time recipient of the Ford Foundation Just Films grant, and member of the Documentary Producer Alliance.
Brent is focused on launching new documentary series and features centered on the importance of diverse cultural experiences in popular culture.
